Monti House The renovation of Monti House has been completed and it is now in service. Read about John Day Homes'
generous donation of a foundation for the Monti House.
When Compassion House found out the time for the city-owned Rainier House's destruction was near, it looked like the ministry would be left without any structures for accomplishing their goal--housing families in distress. Never high on monetary resources either, Compassion House was in a bad place. When the city brought up the possibility of Compassion House using the Monti House, it seemed to be an answer to the quandary. Then it became clear that the land the Monti House was sitting on also needed to be free right away. With no land to call their own, Compassion House had no where to put the available house. Then someone mentioned the name of Julia Pritt. Within a few minutes of her first contact with the ministry, she donated two Issaquah lots to Compassion House. The Monti House was now a viable option. The City of Issaquah gave the house to Compassion House. Research was done on moving costs, and with the help of donations and hard work, the house was moved on December 21, 2004. While the Monti House is now resting on its new lot on SE Andrews Street, there is still much work to be done before it will be livable. The house needs a new foundation, rewiring, repainting, and general updating. This can only happen with the help of volunteers. If you have skills, time, materials, or money you could donate to the project, contact us. This year, Compassion House hopes to turn the Monti House into a duplex to make more room for families. Check out a few pictures of the move below. To find out more about the Monti House, visit the story page.
